Saint Matthew United Methodist Church New Visitor ?      Give Online
Meet the Staff

Scott Ferguson joined St. Matthew in the spring of 1994 (and he says that fire on Good Friday of that spring had nothing to do with him!) He has been at home ever since! As a member of the Sanctuary Choir, Fortress, 4Given, Resounding Praise, the Joy of Easter, the Glory of Christmas and every other production that happens at St. Matthew, Scott was an obvious fit for the Director of Outreach when he joined the staff in 2011. Scott’s responsibilities include: congregational outreach and connections, comic relief, assist the senior pastor, comic relief, supervise the custodial and secretarial staff, comic relief, organizing the church’s calendar of events and Facebook page, oh and … comic relief!
A little known fact about Scott, he was born to deaf parents. He didn’t even know that television had sound until he was 12 years old. Another little known fact…he is not Mark Lowry, or related to Mark Lowry or affiliated with Mark Lowry in any way.
He is passionate about a lot of things, such as: weather and storms. He is our staff Meteorologist and storm tracker. In fact, we knew Harvey was hitting Texas long before Fox 2 News did. He is also passionate about red heads; specifically Carol Burnett and Lucille Ball. His other interests include local government and the betterment of his community. He was recently awarded a Racial Harmony award for his outreach efforts in bringing all races and creeds together for the betterment of Belleville and the expansion of God’s Kingdom.

When Scott isn’t working, which is about 3 whole hours a day, he can be found with his buddy, his doppleganger and his soul mate…his dog Ollie. If you know Scott you know he is a stranger to no one and a friend to all. He is always there with a smile, a joke, words of compassion or just a shoulder to cry on. He loves this church, his church family and most of all…he loves the Lord!
