 Passage: Luke 24:46
Jesus calls for radical repentance, in the best and basic sense of the word radical. The English word derives from the Latin redix with was the word for root. It related not only to plants and mathematics, but in a more general way to the origin and that which is fundamental to something's existence. In Scripture, repentance refers to that which is fundamental to the very existence of the gospel and those who believe it. So preaching repentance really is radical!

 Passage: Acts 5:30-31
Peter says that the resurrection of Jesus Christ brought about repentance and forgiveness of sins (Acts 5:30-31). I wasn't surprised that forgiveness was a result of the resurrection, but repentance? I'd always thought repentance was our job, pretty much a human effort, and Jesus' job was to forgive.

 Passage: Luke 7:36
Luke 7 tells about a sinful woman who crashed a banquet at which Jesus was a guest, washing, kissing and anointing his feet. The drama has just three characters: Jesus, Simon the Pharisee who hosted the banquets, and the unnamed woman. It's a story of contrasts.

 Passage: Genesis 11:31-12:5
How important is this small word "had"? How many times "had" God spoken to Abram? How long "had"he been in Harran? Why "Had" he stayed in Harran? Why "had" the Lord said this to Abram?

 Passage: Matthew 18:21
Just before Jesus gave us that troublesome parable on forgiveness in Matthew 18:23-35, Peter asked a difficult question, at least from our fallen human viewpoint: "How many times shall I forgive...?" Where do I draw the line on forgiveness? How may times do I forgive someone who sins against me?

 Passage: Luke 5:23-24
Some me in the Galilean village of Capernaum brought their paralytic friend to Jesus. Four of them made a hole in the roof of the crowded house in which Jesus was teaching and lowered him down on a mat in front of Jesus. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all tell the same story (Matthew 9:2-8; Mark 2:1-12; Luke 5:17-26). And they all say Jesus did something amazing.

 Passage: 1 John 1:8
As we approach Easter, we will look at what the Bible says about "The Forgiver and The Forgiven." Today let's see what 1 John and other supporting texts say we can do about becoming one of those who has experience being forgiven.

 Passage: 1 John 1:1 & 2 John 12
In both of these passages, John expresses his desire for us to experience complete joy, and both times he links this joy with fellowship. In other words, he believed that joy is the byproduct of fellowship with the Lord and one another. At its core, fellowship is personal and "face to face". So this begs the question, how can we be "face to face" with Jesus when he is in heaven, and it has been almost 2,000 years since he bodily lived on earth? Likewise, how can we be personal in our relationships with others when we live in such an impersonal world?
