 Passage: Mark 5:21 & Mark 5:35
During the days when Jesus was teaching, preaching, healing, and casting out demons around the Sea of Galilee, he encountered a desperate father in the town of Capernaum.

 Passage: 1 John 5:1 & 1 John 5:10
In the last chapter of John's first epistle, he identifies the characteristics of authentic Christian faith. What he says reminds me of my grandfather's milk stool; it needs three legs to stand firm. Let's see what John says about those who have a faith that will stand, one on which they can rest their very soul, a saving, overcoming, true faith.

 Passage: 1 John 2:3
First John is all about Christian assurance. John says that he wrote the letter so that those who believe in Jesus Christ may know that they have eternal life (1 John 5:13). In it, John repeatedly talks about how we can know that we are the children of God. Let's take a look at how John tells us that we can be sure of that right relationship with God.

 Passage: Romans 8:16
Methodists do not celebrate the day on which the founder of the movement, John Wesley, was born, but the day on which his heart "strangely warmed" on Aldersgate Street in London, May 24, 1738. That was the day that Wesley received the inward witness of God's Spirit assuring him that he did trust in Christ, Christ alone, for salvation; and that Christ had taken away his sins and saved him from the law of sin and death. The Witness of the Spirit became the most controversial doctrine in early Methodism. That truth, though still controversial in many theological arenas, remains at the very heart of not only Methodism but evangelical Christianity.

 Passage: Acts 2:32
Given all the difficulties of trying to explain the idea of the Holy Trinity, why do we even believe in it? The apostles gave us this conundrum as a result of their experience with God, particularly in how they encountered God in Jesus Christ. They left us a witness to not an explanation of, this mystery we call "the Trinity."

 Passage: Ephesians 5:18
Paul links two things in this verse that, at first glance, don't seem to go together at all-drunkenness and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. We see this same connection at Pentecost. What is going on here?

 Passage: Hebrews 7:24-25
...He is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. Hebrews 7:25 The New Testament repeatedly reminds us that Jesus is now seated at the right hand of God, the position of divine power, where he intercedes for us.

 Passage: Ephesians 1:18
The preaching of the Apostles emphasized the ascension of Jesus Christ every bit as much as His death and resurrection, In fact, they often treat the three: the cross, the resurrection, and ascension, as one. Their message says that the One who died and was resurrected now regins as exalted Lord above everything else, Ephesians 1:18-22 is one of those passages that directly speaks of Jesus' ascension and His present position. Let's look at it and see what it says about Jesus who reigns above all.

 Passage: Romans 10:9
I've heard many plans of salvation, formulas for getting saved. Paul says it's really pretty simple: Righteousness, that is salvation itself, is a given to us as a gift from God's grace that we grasp by faith. Paul is straightforward, ...if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 (NIV)
