Connecting Opportunities

New Life Club Meetings

Meetings are held every month on the third Thursday at 12:00 noon in the Vine Cafe. No reservations are needed. Join in for great fun, food and fellowship. Over 100 people attend each month!   

 

New Life Club Choir

We have three dozen beautiful souls who love to sing the Gospel of Christ. We sing a forty-minute program at two nursing homes every first Thursday of the month. We love to sit and visit after we sing with the precious folks in the places we visit, as well as to fellowship with each other on the bus to and from and at lunch! If you want a stress free, rewarding ministry and can carry even a "slight" tune, please consider joining us. Meets every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Park Room for practice.

Senior Travel

St. Matthew UMC offers a day trip most months throughout the year as well as several longer trips each year. The following are the trips for 2019:

  • Branson for Christmas 2019 - November 18 -21, 2019

  • St. Louis Symphony & Dinner - December 15, 2019
  • Fireside Dinner Theatre Ft. Atkinson Wisconsin Overnight - June 4 - 5, 2020

Our "2020 Senior Travels" are in the works.  We will be traveling overnight to  Wisconsin to a dinner theatre  in June, taking a 3-4  day trip to Kansas City in September, taking a  11-12 day grand tour of Washington D.C in October.  Details will be rolled out later in the year. Trips are always presented for sign up first at our New Life Club meetings the third Thursday.  All seniors are welcome!

Branson for Christmas 2019

November 18-21, 2019

Join us for four days if packed Christmas shows, shopping, food and fun! Transportation, three hotel nights, six shows, all breakfasts, all dinners and one lunch included.

We will leave the St. Matthew parking lot at 7 a.m. to start our journey to Branson, one of the best places ever to celebrate the Christmas season. We will be having a buffet lunch at Hemingway's at the Bass Pro in Springfield, MO, included in your package on the way there, and then we will have some shopping time at Bass Pro.

We will be staying at the Grand Plaza Hotel in Branson once again, which includes a complimentary breakfast each morning. This is a non-smoking hotel and each room has a mini refrigerator and a coffee maker that is well stocked with excellent coffee. With the restaurant being in the 9th floor, we have great views of Branson city as well as the countryside during breakfast. There is also an indoor pool, hot tub, and complete fitness center.

We will be attending The Oak Rigde Boys' show, Sight and Sound's "Miracle of Christmas," The Haygoods' Family Show, Branson Belle Dinner Show, The Hughes Brothers' Dinner Show and the Janice Martin Show. That's six great shows in four days.

All four dinners are included with Hughes Brothers' Dinner Show, the Branson Belle, McFarians, and Lambert's, Home of the throwed Rolls, Ozark, MO.

We'll be shopping at the Tanger Mall, Grand Village Shops and The Landing in Downtown Branson.

It's a wonderful Christmas experience!

St. Louis Symphony at Powell Hall Holiday Celebration
& Dinner at Walnut Grill Sunset Hills

Sunday, December 15, 2019 - leavng St. Matthew lower parking lot at 1:15 p.m.

Cost: $125 at booking

Join us for a St. Louis Symphony Christmas including all our holiday classics performed by the symphony and the Holiday Festival Chorus, including a visit from Santa himself. This unforgettable experience will put you in the holiday spirit and you will see why this is an annual tradition for many folks. We have seating starting at row 3 Orchestra Center. Great Seats!

 

After the show we will proceed to Walnut Grill in Sunset Hills where you will have your entree choice of Pork Tenderloin, Chicken Spiedini, Walnut Salmon, or Wild Mushroom Chricken. Salad is Walnut Salad. Sides are Baked Potato, Vegetable DuJour or Green Beans, choice of Toasted Almond Cream Cake, Caramelized Walnut Ball or Creme Brulee. Some of you remember this restaurant from our August visit and requested a Christmas "return."

 

You'll catch the Christmas feeling and maybe we will have a little snow...but just a "little."

Yes, you can drive to Wisconson for a dinner theatre and back in less than two days. We will start loading the bus on the lower St. Matthew parking lot at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, leave at 10 a.m. and travel to the Holiday Inn Express in Ft. Atkinson, WI where we will lodge for the evening. We will have dinner in the area around 6 p.m., on your own.

 

Friday, June 5 we will have a hot complimentary breakfast which starts at 6 a.m. at the hotel. We will be having a delicious gourmet lunch at the theatre and the show. We will leave the hotel around 10 a.m. After lunch and the show we will board our coach bus and return home. We must stop at a chesse house as well.

 

Fireside Dinner Theatre: This 2 acre entertainment complex is Wisconsin's #1 year-round motor-coach attraction. This 1000 seat restaurant serves elaborate, unique, and delicious meals. It has a 700 seat theatre-in-the-round with a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system for Broadway quality productions.

Just about every great entertainer has appeared in Las Vegas over the last 70 years. Now, the Fireside Theatre will pay tribute to many of those legendary performers in an all-new live band show.
