 How do I choose which Adult Sunday School Class is for me? Each adult class has its own format. Some classes use periodical curriculum and a lecture forat while others are more focused on discussion. Classes also vary a great deal in size, from very large to very small. We recommend that you try out several classes before selecting one.



Sunday School for Adults at 9:15 a.m.


Bible Boomers (Room 5)

Hank Oplinger is the teacher of this lecture-style class, using the Wesley Quarterly.  All ages.


Christians Mates (Church Library)

A discussion group led by Norine Altman. All are welcome.


Christians Rockers (Park Room)

Rev. Larry Patton theaches this lecture-style class using the Wesley Quarterly.


Christian Salt & Light Co. (Side Fellowship Hall)

Ken Williams teaches this lecture-style class for all ages.


E.T.C. (Room 4)

Discussion format for those in their “middle years.”  Led by John Darr, using the Wesley Quarterly.


J.O.Y. (Jesus /  Others / You)(Room 1)

Discussion style class led by Shelby Walasin.  All ages are welcome.


Women’s Bible Study (Room 200)

Betty Erhardt and Jean Swenson welcome all women to this discussion-style class.


Soul Mates (Room 4)

All married couples are welcome to this class, led by Ted & Anita Gajewski.

2017 Fall Wednesday Night Discipleship Opportunities


We have many great discipleship opportunities this winter!  Please sign up at the information desk or the display wall in the foyer.  Classes will meet at 6:30 pm from Wednesday, September 6 through November 15, unless noted*.


Wednesday Night Worship Service (Chapel)

Pastor Larry Patton will lead the Prayer, Praise & Preaching service on Wednesdays in the Chapel.


Walking Women (Meet in Foyer) *5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.

Join Jenny Palmer for walking, weekly scripture and Christian fellowship.


Divorce Care (Room 3) *starts at 6 p.m.

This 13-week, Christ-centered program is designed to help those going through divorce. If you do not already have a workbook, there is a fee of $20. The workbook includes daily Bible study for reflection and application. Led by Christine Stroede.


GriefShare class (Bride’s Room) *starts at 6 p.m.

Liz McGlasson is leading a 13-week seminar and support group for people grieving the death of someone close to them.  Come to recover from the deep hurt of death and find healing and hope.


Young Adult Women's Bible Study (Prayer Room)

Donna Roth will be leading this study for young women in high school and college that will challenge them to follow God.


Beginning Sign Language (Room 4)

Marva Petrus will teach this introduction to sign language class.


Advanced Sign Language (Room 1)

Rachel Kriss will be teaching conversational sign language.  *Beginner Sign Language is a prerequisite to this class.


5 Love Languages of Children (Room 214 in Kids Town)

Based on the book by Chapman and Campbell. There are five love languages through which children recieve love. As parents, we need to communicate our love for each child through all five languages so that our children not only learn to love in all those ways, but so they have this love tanks filled. 


Membership Class (Discipleship Room) * Start October 4

Whether you are new to St. Matthew and have found a place to belong or you have ben attending for years and would like to make your membership "official", please come to the new members classes facilitated by Pastor James Slone. **Class starts October 4 at 6:30 p.m. New members will be recieved during the services on Sunday, November 12.
