In October 2017, the St. Matthew United Methodist Church Endowment Fund was

officially established with the United Methodist Foundation in Springfield, Illinois. The purpose
of this Endowment Fund is to raise and invest monies to accomplish the long-range plan
objectives of the church. All gifts to the Endowment Fund will be properly and timely invested
with the United Methodist Foundation, and all Endowment Funds will be reviewed by our
church’s Endowment Committee. As you think about how the Lord has blessed you over the
years through this church, we encourage you to consider giving to the St. Matthew United
Methodist Church Endowment Fund to ensure that St. Matthew continues to be a blessing to
others for many years to come!

If you have a question about the Endowment Fund or would like to make a contribution to the Endowment Fund, please contact Pastor Jon at the church office at (618) 397-5994 or by email at .

If you are aged 70 and 1/2 years old or older and you have an IRA, you likely have recently recieved or likely will soon recieve written notice that you must take a required minimum distribution from your IRA.

This can often pose two problems: (1) You might not feel the need to take a distribution at this time and  (2) This distribution is taxable.

If you find yourself in this situation, there is an alternative. The Charitable IRA Rollover, or the Qualified Charitable Distribution, as it is also called, allows you to have your required minimum distribution be paid directly to a charity, and the distribution is tax-free.

We urge you to consider the church and the Endowment Fund for the church as this year closes. Please check with your financial representative on this option or talk with Dan Harry or Pastor Jon on how this could work for both you and the church.

Talk to your pastor about this opportunity of making a significant gift for ministry and save a bundle in taxes at the same time!
