The Journey to Jerusalem was normally an exhilarating event for a Jewish man from Galilee. The companionship of other pilgrims, the days of traveling through the Palestine countryside, the singing of the psalms of ascent, and the first sight of the walls of the city filled the senses with excitement. In Luke 9, however, was a sense of foreboding for the disciples in Jesus’ determination to go to Jerusalem when he set out for the city.
