 Passage: Luke 23:56
From dusk on Good Friday to dawn on Easter Sunday, the world spun suspended in chaos and despair. without answers. On that silent Saturday, "God's very self lay dead in a grave" (Martin Luther). Jesus Christ, the Son of God, had been crucified and lay dead in a tomb outside Jerusalem, the hopes of his followers crushed by the unrepentant, unrelenting powers of this world. The Bible tells us almost nothing about that day, the day God went missing.

 Passage: Acts 2:42
It may seem so obvious that we no longer really think about it, but the things that we believe about God are inalienable to Christian faith. The first thing Scripture says about the Church after three thousand were baptized at Pentecost is, "They devoted themselves to the teachings of the apostles..." The Church and Christianity stands upon what the apostles declared and taught. The very existence of the New Testament testifies to the absolute importance of those teachings.
