 Passage: Luke
Here and there (passim) throughout Luke's Gospel, he tells us that Jesus prayed. As you read that Gospel, you see Jesus praying in many places and many situations.

 Passage: Luke 2:36
Anna gets only three verses in the Bible; after all she isn't the center of the story, Jesus is. But this 84 year-old widow, a prophet from the tribe of Asher, provides us with a basic model for a life of faithful devotion and prayer.

 Passage: Luke 2:8 & Luke 2:16
Where would you expect to find Jesus? The Magi first looked for him in Jerusalem (Matthew 2:1-2), but he wasn't there. They're not the only ones who didn't find him where they expected to find him. Surprised? Even more surprising is the number of unexpected, often unrecognized Jesus sightings, glory sightings, that people just are not looking for and therefore often don't see.  Passage: John 1:6
The Gospel of John raises the curtain on the first century, and the first person on the stage of history is a powerful, eccentric preacher in rural Palestine, Jesus' cousin (Luke 1:36), a man named John, better known to us as John the Baptist. Though fascinated by him and his message, people couldn't quite figure out just who he was. The peasants, priests and Levites sent by the authorities of Jerusalem, the tetrarch Herod, even Jesus himself ask, "Who is this man named John?"

 Passage: Colossians 3:15
Every chapter of the book of Colossians reminds us that the very heart of Christianity beats with thanksgiving (1:3, 12; 2:7; 3:15-17; 4:2). And, God intents for a grateful attitude to live in the very heart, the essence, of every one of us believers.

In Paul's last letter, written to the young preacher Timothy, he reminds us that God has given us a great deposit of truth which we must hold onto and pass onto others. That great truth is not only deposited within those who believe in Jesus Christ but it is preserved in Holy Scriptures, the revelation and rule of Christian faith. It is a precious and powerful gift; without it we would not have Christianity and we would be lost.
