 Passage: Luke 5:23-24
Some me in the Galilean village of Capernaum brought their paralytic friend to Jesus. Four of them made a hole in the roof of the crowded house in which Jesus was teaching and lowered him down on a mat in front of Jesus. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all tell the same story (Matthew 9:2-8; Mark 2:1-12; Luke 5:17-26). And they all say Jesus did something amazing.

 Passage: 1 John 1:8
As we approach Easter, we will look at what the Bible says about "The Forgiver and The Forgiven." Today let's see what 1 John and other supporting texts say we can do about becoming one of those who has experience being forgiven.

 Passage: 1 John 1:1 & 2 John 12
In both of these passages, John expresses his desire for us to experience complete joy, and both times he links this joy with fellowship. In other words, he believed that joy is the byproduct of fellowship with the Lord and one another. At its core, fellowship is personal and "face to face". So this begs the question, how can we be "face to face" with Jesus when he is in heaven, and it has been almost 2,000 years since he bodily lived on earth? Likewise, how can we be personal in our relationships with others when we live in such an impersonal world?

 Passage: Matthew 6:14
Jesus added commentary on only one petition of the Lord's Prayer, the one about forgiveness. That must mean he thinks that particular petition is pretty important.

 Passage: Psalm 18:1-3
The enemy is anyone or anything that hinders our fellowship with God, or that wants to take us down, or wants to suppress the work of the Holy Spirit within us. Who is the enemy? Consider the devil, the world, the flesh; also sickness, fear, anxiety, stress, worry, loneliness, doubt, discouragement, despair, anger, hate, bitterness, unforgiveness, etc.

 Passage: Luke 3:21
Maxie Dunham regularly states, "I believe that there are some things that God either cannot or will not do until and unless people pray." If that is true, what actually happens when we do pray? In Luke's account of Jesus' baptism, he alone tells us that Jesus was praying then. He then proceeds to tell us all that took place while Jesus was praying.

 Passage: Matthew 6:6
The term "prayer closet" has just about dissappeared from our vocabulary. It's bad enough that the term has become arcane, it's even worse that the very concept itself has fallen into obscurity. Jesus is the one who talked about the prayer closet. He actually instructs us to go into the closet and shut the door when we pray.
