 Passage: Matthew 16:27
One of the major themes surrounding the appearing of Jesus Christ is glory. "Glory" repeatedly appears in both the story of his birth and in prophecies about his second coming. He reigns in glory now, and that glory will be revealed even more vividly sooner than you might expect.

 Passage: Psalm 50:23
How do you give thanks to the Lord? Scripture shows us several ways to express thanks to him: Say it (Psalm 75:1), shout it (Psalm 42:4), sing it (Nehemiah 12:31; Psalms 28:7; Jeremiah 30:19). pray it (Daniel 6:10; Colossians 4:2), through service (2 Corinthians 9:12-13), and by sacrifices (Psalm 50:14; 116:7).

 Passage: Proverbs 3:9
Although the agricultural context of the first fruits offerings described in the Hebrew Bible is rather foreign to most of us today, the principles behind those offerings still have validity, they and teach us important concepts about how we give and how we handle everything we have, especially our money.

Did you know that Paul wrote a "fundraising letter?" It's there in the New Testament, tucked away in 2 Corinthians, chapters 8-9. He was taking up a collection to help the poor among the believers in Jerusalem. He began the letter by telling about the Macedonian Christians, about how and why they gave.

 Passage: Luke 15:20 & Luke 15:28
Jesus' parable of the man who had two sons in Luke 15 draws a picture of what the Lord wants the church, and that means individual Christians who make up the church, to be like, like the father in the story.
Date: Sun, Oct 18, 2015       Teacher: James Slone       Series: The Parable of the Lost Sons
 Passage: Luke 15:25-30
In Jesus' story of the man who had two sons, we find that the elder son who had stayed at the father's house was actually just as lost, maybe even more, so as his brother had been when he was in the far country. Sadly these elder brothers who stay in the church, follow the rules, and work hard often define what a Christian is like in the minds of many people, deceiving themselves as what s Christians is like in the minds of many people, deceiving themselves as well as others as to what true Christians attitudes and behavior really are.
